Blue Skies

Happy Tuesday -

We’ve had a range of perfect weather lately, the drama of yesterday’s downpour, the gusty warm breezes of Sunday, and the just hot enough sunny-summer-day that was Saturday.  Joyful, all of them.

Under those sunny and blazing blue skies on Saturday, Ellie and I marched in the DC Pride parade.  We marched for those in our family who are part of the Alphabet Mafia; we marched with the group Free Mom Hugs to just be two more parental voices assuring each parade watcher that they are beautiful just as they are.  Several people thanked Ellie, as she hugged them, saying “My mother won’t hug me anymore.”

Jesus wept.

We were lucky enough to be marching with FMH’s founder, Sara Cunningham (above left), whose own story–just one parent’s journey among many–has inspired a documentary and a planned Lifetime film with Jamie Lee Curtis!.
